Mercedes Echeverría was born in Madrid, where she now lives. She has always wanted to devote herself to the plastic arts, and for many years she has combined her administrative work with self-taught painting skills. In 2011, she moved to Brazil to pursue her dream of studying Plastic Arts, which she did in 2014 at the Pan-American School of Art and Design in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Painting at the Workshop of the Brazilian plastic artist Rô Gonçalves and the Sculpture Museum of Sâo Paulo supplemented her training in Plastic Arts. She uses a variety of expression techniques in her painting as part of her evolution and exploration: oil painting, acrylic, pastel, watercolor, collage, inks, and so on.
Her work has been presented and selected in contests, and she have been awarded for it. She has also participated in group exhibitions. Concerning her work: It is predominantly figurative. It delves into feelings, nostalgic themes, and memories, as well as sensations that surround us in everyday situations. Undefined strokes and stains suggest the images, inviting the viewer to interpret what she sees.
