ABOUT THE PRODUCT
Picto-sculpture of PIN VEGA made in mixed media on board with a size of 81 x 65 cm. and 3 cm. deep. This work was made in March 2021 and has a weight of 8 Kg.
This is the sixth of PIN VEGA’s picto-sculptures inspired by mercury. With an elaborate technique that mixes epoxy resin and methacrylate mirror he has achieved the appearance of liquid mercury flowing between the resin pieces.
The first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang was buried in the so-called “Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang”, which contained flowing rivers of mercury reproducing a model of the ruled land in which the rivers of China were represented).
Mercury has always held a fascination for him and it was only last year year that he managed to emulate the quality of this metal without having to use it, for obvious reasons. He bind the powdered pigments himself to achieve a matt, velvety effect that brings out the colours in their purest and most luminous state.
