ABOUT THE PRODUCT
The Palletsofa was born as a reaction to the abundance of existing products and the inventiveness of people who use products in a different way than they were intended, finding new functions for old products. There is an enormous variety of self-built pallet sofas, which are often more interesting than the expensive sofas sold in showrooms. The Palletsofa is a celebration of the creativity of the non-designer.

Jarle Veldman’s objects are responses to our society’s overabundance of pre-existing products. Jarle questions the functions of everyday objects and the value we place on them by investigating the relationships between do-it-yourself culture, exclusive design, and consumerism.
His PREMIUM BANANAS collection products are a direct translation of other possible functions that the most common abundant products could have. A cardboard box is transformed into a table. A pallet is transformed into a sofa. Different objects’ shapes and functions become mixed together, and functions are no longer defined but open to new interpretations.
